About Us
In 1897 the local was formed with no tangible benefits but a Brotherhood. By the strength and unity of this Brotherhood the Carpenters of 183 established an eight hour work day and a 40 hour work week as well. An apprentice school was established to insure that the quality and craftsmanship of the union carpenter would reign supreme through the years to come.
The carpenters have come a very long way since its inception over one hundred years ago. Today we do not rest on our laurels, but have journeyman upgrade classes to insure that we will always have the expert craftsman that our contractors have come to expect from Union Carpenters.
The Carpenters of Local Union #183 enjoy many benefits, a decent wage safe working conditions, health insurance, pension plan, well as an annuity.
